Turn Fat Into Muscle:Books

2010 July 21

Hi guys, as promised I’m going to start covering some of the more recent books that I feel can point you in a good direction for losing some weight and gaining some muscle in efficient methods– meaning methods that are proven to work for large amounts of people over a condensed period of time,  so it’s not such an uphill battle.

The First Book, and Best Place to Start

The first book that helps towards creating the turn fat into muscle illusion is Tom Venuto’s “Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle” which is the main site I recommend and gained most of the knowledge that helped me make the largest strides. Tom himself suggests in a myriad of ways in the book how diet and exercise have to coincide to provide the results that we all want, and how the strict, yet necessary diet is one of the most important elements towards creating the illusion of turning fat into muscle. I learned about the book off of several youtube videos when I was searching for the best material/program to start a few years ago, and the ratio between those that liked and those that didn’t is what won me over.

What I loved about the book, and why it still is the main authority on the subject for me, is the sheer level of detail in it. Sure, at first, my head was spinning somewhat after reading all of the various things Tom had to say about diet and fitness, but if you take it piece-by-piece you’ll quickly be able to start implementing the techniques mentioned.

I think what I took the most out of it was the great schedule Tom has set up for his routines, and just how good the routines are –the best ones were the ones Tom mentioned himself is still doing after all the years he’s been involved in lifting and bodybuilding. At the end of the day, it’s a great book because of the incredible amount of information on nutrition and what works, and also the specific routines and splits involved.

I also liked that it was all natural-he never recommended taking strange supplements or behind the counter products like some of the other supposed “top guys” in the industry did, and mainly just focused on the basics, and what worked for him, which, if you use with discipline will work for you. Like I said, it’s probably the best singular source of information out there regarding general body improvement and diet, and really helped me generate that turn fat into muscle illusion I was looking for; there’s a reason it’s kept it’s longevity for many years.

There are a few others out there that I still use to supplement Tom’s book, and I’ll provide more reviews of them in the near future. Until then, if you’re ready to start putting a plan in action, pick up “Burn the Fat” and give it a try!

Turn Fat Into Muscle: Diet

You wanted to know how to turn fat into muscle- and now you know that it isn’t really possible- so what’s the next best thing, especially if your weight is a bit high and the dream of turning fat into muscle is gone?

Well, diet is going to be an important element of getting you to where you want to be, to lose some of that fat so that you can get ready to gain the desired muscle. One of the key methods will be to burn calories: there are a few ways of doing this, from increasing your amount of activity and exercise per day or simply by adjusting your diet regiment to cut down on the amount of calories your body takes in.

Diet: The First Step To Help Create The Turn Fat Into Muscle Illusion

Foods that you should consider giving the axe (or at least cut-down on) include spaghetti, peanut butter, cheese, chocolate, and other various sweets that tend to be incredibly tempting. The illusion of how to turn fat into muscle can also better be realized by adhering to a diet that is conscious of both calorie intake and also of more specific things such as protein intake, and what specific proteins exist.

For me, I had a bit too much stomach fat, specifically- recently, more and more studies have proved that a buildup of fat in the stomach is the worst place to have too much excess fat stored; not only does it look bad, but it’s probably the most dangerous place to have fat in you’re entire body. If you clearly have too much stomach fat, then you’re first priority will be to get rid of it. I recommend our sister site for some very practical and effective methods on eliminating fat in general; the techniques discussed there put me on a track and helped me greatly.

To further facilitate the illusion of turning fat into muscle, you’re going to want to decide when you feel you have lost/burned enough fat to then move on to gaining some muscle-from there, a series of exercises and workouts followed under specific regiment with consistency will be the final step towards achieving your personal goal.

As mentioned above, I recommend our sister site as a great resource if you want additional specifics and methods on how to execute a long-term diet and exercise plan that will be tailored specifically to your needs- turning fat into muscle may be impossible, but it’s gaining and maintaining the illusion that counts as the end result.

Turning Fat Into Muscle: Does It Work?

So, the real question: Can you turn fat into muscle? Well, in a word, no.

The reason this isn’t really possible is because fat and muscle are two completely different entities, and as such, cannot be intertwined for one to really morph into the other for such effects as lofty as muscle transformation.

Alot of people I talk to still think that it’s possible to turn fat into muscle, and like I said before, the illusion can be created when gaining a recognizable change in muscle, and inversely losing a recognizable amount of weight; doing the two in unison can create such an effect, and it’s this effect that I think most of us in one form or another strive for.

So I Can’t Turn Fat Into Muscle- What Should I Do?

Now that we know that it isn’t really possible to turn fat into muscle, what is the next best thing to do, especially for us bigger guys?

It is a tall task to increase muscle mass and burn fat at the same time, the key reason being calories- you only have so many calories, and either you’re going to burn them to lose weight, or you’re going to gain them to increase muscle mass- in essence, a new paradox awaits us now that we know you can’t really turn fat into muscle.

So what should you do first? Burn fat or increase muscle? Well, if you’re a smaller body type, like an ectomorph, it’s really a better idea in most cases to gain some weight first and then try to pack on some muscle. If you’re already a big guy like I was, however, you could actually do either method first- I wasn’t incredibly obese though, so obviously if you clearly have weight problems it only makes sense to focus on that first, and make it you’re first priority.

Actually, I would say the very lean guys have the hardest time in getting their appearance to a level of looking “big”- it takes a world of commitment, time and energy for smaller set guys to get visibly large while the overweight guy has to focus his energies mainly on diet and strict coherence to that diet- the muscular gains will often be more noticeable significantly sooner for him.

So, whichever you do first is fine- what is crucial that you take away from this is that you cannot literally turn fat into muscle, but that you can still transform you’re body if you want to mimic such an effect- the key is to self-evaluate where you are physically, and decide on a plan of attack for a workout routine and diet–our sister  site shown below has even more specific methodology on how to achieve this, and I highly recommend checking them out if you are serious about undergoing such a transformation.

Turn Fat Into Muscle- My Story

I began researching how to turn fat into muscle my sophomore year in college; I did so when several friends of mine were lifting in the main gym with me of the campus gymnasium, and during one of our breaks one of the guys slid in the question almost sheepishly- “Hey guys…” he said weakly, looking at several of the other weightlifters in the gym, a couple of which probably were 220lbs and had more muscle in their pinky than we did in our entire bodies:

Can you turn fat into muscle?

We all stopped for a moment, a rare moment of reflection among college sophomores, two who were too skinny, and one of which, me, who just weighed too much.

I went back to my dorm that night and went on the internet- most of the answers really threw me into a dark place, and didn’t give me much hope. Most said the same things, that it was simply against a slew of physical laws, and that certain compounds just would be impossible to convert because fat and muscle were just two completely different variables, and my continued research confirmed this- I went to the library and took out several books that lightly touched on the subject, and most seemed to reiterate what many of the internet articles stated.

My two friends would disagree with each other- one simply wanted to know how to turn fat into muscle, while the other thought it was absolutely possible, and jumped into wanting to know how to turn fat into muscle fast. Having gained the knowledge from two different fronts, I eventually learned (in part from this site) that although it is technically impossible to turn fat into muscle, that it was still possible to mimic the effects of what it would look like if you did.

As I state in my about page, I’m a high level mesomorph- this means that while I technically have some advantages such as harder skin and “stockiness”, I still had far too much weight- I was 5′11 and weighed 190lbs; I didn’t exactly look fat, yet at the same time I was borderline.

The “Transformed” Man

Eventually I became determined to transform my appearance- I no longer cared if I couldn’t technically turn fat into muscle, but rather just wanted to find a way that would give me ironclad results to make it appear as if I did- it’s what I now call the “illusion” of turning fat into muscle- there are specific regiments that you can put you’re body through that will indeed mimic such effects, often maximizing your physical appearance without having to waste money on the seemingly countless amount of “get fit quick” scams that are out there.

Most of it just involves some time and hard work; and while technically I didn’t turn any of my fat into muscle, It certainly looks- and feels, as though I did.

I’m confident that the various posts and articles on this site will help you towards reaching you’re goal of physical appearance and fitness, and while I don’t have all the answers, I can tell you exactly what worked for me; and like I say, while it may not be possible to turn fat into muscle in the strictest sense, there are definite steps you can take to give yourself a full physical transformation without all the gimmicks.

As always, please visit our sister site to gain even more information on the subject if you want.
